HISTORY AND ANTHEM
1997 - 2000
The Marbella Sports Union was founded in 1997 by Antonio José Pérez Ramos, a pharmacist and sports enthusiast in the city.
His foundation brings together the former Club Atlético de Marbella with the youth teams of two other local clubs: Unión Atlético Marbella and CD Cultural. The club adopted the name UD Marbella in August 1997 after acquiring the license from UD Marbesula.
We began our journey in Regional Preferente in the 1997/1998 season, occupying UD Marbesula's place and moving up to the Third Division.
In its debut in this category (1998/1999), UD Marbella finished sixth with Paco Medina as the first team coach. The following season, the team finished in eighth position.
2000 - 2005
In the 2000/2001 season, UD Marbella was crowned champion of Group IX of the Third Division. In the promotion phase, Real Betis Balompié "B" frustrated the Marbella club's objective.
In the 2002/2003 season the team finished runners-up in Group IX and achieved the long-awaited promotion to Second Division B with Burgueña on the bench after defeating CD Guadalajara, AD Cerro Reyes Atlético and CD Alcalá in the playoffs.
In our first campaign in the Second Division B (Group IV), in the 2003/2004 season, we finished in sixteenth position. And in the following league season (2004/2005), under the orders of Antonio Gutiérrez, we achieved a creditable fifth position, finishing two points behind Lorca Deportiva CF.
2005 - 2010
In the 2005/2006 season, with Paco Flores in charge, we played the Copa del Rey for the first time against Baza, a team that eliminated us in the first round. With eight games to go, Juan Ramón López Muñiz took over as coach and we finished in twelfth place.
For the following 2006/2007 campaign, UD Marbella would count on the Salamanca investor Juan José Pascual. Muñiz continued to lead the team, making a great start to the league and reaching first place. On matchday 10, the coach received a call from Málaga CF and his replacement was Antolín Gonzalo.
In the following two seasons the club had the help of investors Ian Radford and Alfredo Guerisoli. In 2007/2008, with Oli in charge, the club finished fifteenth in the Second Division B. In 20008/2009, Lorca Deportiva prevented Marbella from being promoted to the second division after having finished fourth with José Luis Montes as first team coach.
The 2009/2010 campaign was historic for the club, which managed to qualify for the round of XNUMX of the Copa del Rey, facing Quique Flores' Atlético de Madrid. In the league, the club was relegated to the Third Division after seven seasons in the second division.
2010 - 2018
Marbella competed in the Third Division from the 2010/2011 season until the promotion in 2014 after experiencing an unforgettable play-off against CD Eldense. During that period, it is worth highlighting a very important date: on June 28, 2013, the name Marbella Fútbol Club was made official to internationalize the club and increase the number of members.
In the 2011/2012 season, UD Marbella finished third and fought to return to the Second Division B. In the first round of the Play Off for promotion we eliminated CD Mairena and in the second we fell to Real Madrid C.
In the 2013/2014 season, businessman Alexander Grinberg landed at the club to take over the presidency. Marbella FC played in the Second Division B after four seasons in the Third Division. In the 2017/2018 season, they played in the play-off for promotion to the Second Division.
2020 - Present
Marbella Fútbol Club experienced a very important episode in its history on November 19, 2018, when Mr. Zhao Zhen, Sport Business Consultant at Guirenniao Group Limited, became the new owner of the entity. In this new stage, the representation agency The Best Of You Sports SA has been in charge of managing all areas of the club to generate a new boost both at a sporting and structural level.
Since then, Marbella FC has undergone a deep renovation with the aim of enabling the club to reach the elite of Spanish football in a few years.
In terms of sport, Marbella qualified to play in the promotion phase to the Second Division in the 2019/2020 season, having lost just one match during the competition. In 2020/2021, the team played in the PlayOff for promotion to the Second RFEF. The 2022/2023 season ended with Marbella FC being promoted to the Second RFEF after being crowned champion. Currently, the team competes in the First RFEF after achieving promotion in 2023/2024 under Fran Beltrán.
In the 2024/2025 season, Marbella FC consolidated their place in the First Division after an unforgettable victory against Antequera CF on the final matchday. Furthermore, the Copa del Rey edition was historic, as Marbella played Atlético de Madrid in the second round and managed to fill La Rosaleda stadium in Málaga with more than 30.000 spectators. A date that Marbella fans will never forget.
Regarding sports sponsorships, major international brands have backed the Marbella club's current project. Marbella City Council has become the main sponsor: Sierra Blanca Estates, Anantara Villa Padierna, Grupo MOSH, Porsche, Adidas, HM Hospitales, and Mahou.
Marbella's youth academy has become so professional that 24 teams from all categories (from prebenjamins to juveniles) make up the Marbella FC Talents academy. One of the most important milestones in the history of the youth academy was the promotion of the Juvenil team to the División de Honor, the highest youth category in national football, in which it has been playing for three seasons. In the 2023/2024 season, the Cadete team will be promoted for the first time in its history to the División de Honor, the highest cadet category in national football.
The club has also given great importance to the Senior Women's team with a high-level technical staff and the commercial commitment of prestigious brands such as Women'secret.
BLUE PARADISE OF THE SEA WHERE YOU BATHE
CORNER OF COAST AND SUN OF MY BLESSED MÁLAGA
GIVE ME YOUR WARMTH IN THE MORNING
LIGHT UP THIS TEAM FOR ME FULL MOON ON YOUR BEACH
FILL YOURSELF WITH LIFE AND GIVE IT MOVEMENT
WITH THOSE STANDS FULL TO THE SOUND OF THE WIND
GIVE THE HEART AND INJECT IT WITH JOY
AND BE PROUD OF YOUR LAND ANDALUSIA
Chorus
I SING TO YOU MARBELLA
YOUR GAME TAKES US
ON THE ROAD TO GLORY
ALL TOGETHER TO FIRST
I SING TO YOU MARBELLA
MARBELLA THE BEAUTIFUL
LET'S DREAM BIG
FOR YOUR SHIELD AND YOUR FLAG
HELP OUT YOUR HAND TO THE RIVAL WHO COMES
COMPETE, FEEL AND PLAY WITH SPORTSMANSHIP
GET LOST WITH ME AND DON'T PUT UP BARRIERS
THROUGH THE MEDITERRANEAN AND ITS SEA BREEZE
FILL YOURSELF WITH LIFE AND GIVE IT MOVEMENT
WITH THOSE STANDS FULL TO THE SOUND OF THE WIND
GIVE THE HEART AND INJECT IT WITH JOY
AND BE PROUD OF YOUR LAND ANDALUSIA
