Marbella FC earned a hard-fought point today against Salerm Puente Genil. The Marbella side faced a home team accustomed to playing on their own turf, who put up a very physical fight.
The team's manager, Antonio Calderón, made only one change to last week's starting eleven. Juan Rodríguez returned to the lineup after serving a one-match suspension, replacing the young Haruna Moro.
The match was marked by the struggle of two teams who never gave up on a ball and who also had to suffer from the strong wind that prevailed during the game.
In the first half, Mizzian threatened with a header that posed little threat to the home goalkeeper, who then made a great save from a long-range shot by Cristóbal after half an hour. The first half ended goalless.
In the second half, Marbella looked more attacking, pressing forward into the opposition's area. Calderón also made changes early on, bringing on Tahiru and Fernando.
The Ghanaian striker showed that his mere presence is synonymous with danger, with several dangerous runs, although without quite troubling the opposing goal.
As the minutes ticked by, Marbella looked better and saw how a good cross from Ohemeng failed to be headed in by Lanchi.
Lanchi himself came close to scoring twice, hitting the woodwork twice, first with a cross-shot and then from a set piece. Tahiru finished off the play by scoring, but the referee called a foul on Naldo.
With no goals, the match ended with a draw and Marbella FC adding their first point of the season away from home, also keeping a clean sheet for the first time.
